Campsites in the Vosges
An area that you might not think of immediately, but where you can enjoy a wonderful holiday in the lovely hills and mountains.
Les Ballons
Tourists and locals often walk and cycle on rolling roads and well-laid hiking trails (there are literally thousands of kilometers of hiking trails in the Vosges). The Vosgien Club is not by chance the oldest walking club in France.
Les Ballons des Vosges
The Ballons des Vosges mountain region in the High Vosges is an absolute attraction for visitors: it is a wonderful succession of rolling hills, winding roads and viewpoints. The highest mountain is the Grand Ballon, which is over 1,400 meters high. But there are more 'balloons', often with beautiful pass roads over them. Along the way you often come across a firm auberge where you can eat and drink well (and traditionally).
The Route des Crêtes is also famous: almost ninety kilometers long, from Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines in the north to Cernay in the south. The route marks the separation between Lorraine and Alsace.
And then of course there are the lakes: around Lac de Longemer and Gérardmer you have ample opportunity for sunbathing, swimming, pedal boating or supping.
