Two quiet campsites in the Drôme
A little to the east of the Route du Soleil, near Valence, lies the beautiful Drôme area. It is an excellent destination for cyclists, walkers and sun lovers.
The climate is wonderful one sunny day followed the other during my stay. The area sometimes seems to be made for cycling or driving in the sun with your roof open. And because you already get a bit closer to the Alps, you can tell by the often beautiful wild landscape that regularly treats you to fantastic views.
You will find beautiful medieval villages and beautiful winding roads. And of course there is the river Drôme itself, which meanders beautifully through the hills and almost invites you to come canoeing or at least take a seat on the rocks along the bank.

Early in the summer we criss-crossed the area and picked out two quiet campsites that caught our attention: Moulin De Pradelle in the hills south of the river and the charming Le Moulin Du Rivet in the north.
After a beautiful ride of Espenel on the river, through the hills to the south of it, you arrive at Moulin de Pradelle after roughly thirty minutes. This is a campsite in the middle of nature where you can find peace, far from the tourist crowds. It's simple (De Pradelle has no Wi-Fi, intentionally), but you do have a swimming pool and a small restaurant. Because it is an organic company, many ingredients for food in the surrounding region are purchased or taken from their own vegetable garden. And fresh bread is baked here every morning. The campsite is pleasantly laid-back, feels spacious and is visited by cyclists and hikers.
This simple, small campsite hidden in the green. In the high season there is a bread service in the morning, real groceries you will have to do in Die. That should not really be a problem: it is a short drive, but the route to it is beautiful. The small river La Sûre runs right past the campsite, where children can play well. The charming owner (of Belgian descent) hikes a lot herself and will gladly steer you towards the most beautiful routes in the area.
