Small campsites in the French Alps
It is a wonderful, relaxing combination: the unique atmosphere of the mountains and the specific character of a small, simple campsite.
The atmosphere of fresh, almost cold mornings when you crawl out of your tent, longing for coffee. From the sun that disappears behind a mountain early in the evening. Of a few low-hanging clouds along the mountain slopes and the sound of cowbells in the distance. From hiking boots, backpacks, cable cars and perhaps the prospect of a multi-day hike to a mountain hut. If you want to get as much in the mood for vacation as we do, then browse through our overview of small campsites in the Alps.
view on the map There's enough to choose from: you will find more than seventy small campsites here, all with 50 or fewer pitches, in and near the French Alps. For example, there is Camping Du Col, right in the Arvan-Villard Massif, with beautiful views of the surrounding mountain peaks.
As the northern border, we have taken Lake Geneva. You could say that this is not directly in the Alps, but because of the beautiful surroundings and the good accessibility of the part of the Alps directly south of it, we included this as well. The southernmost of the campsites in this overview are in the Mercantour National Park.
