Chamonix: campsites in the shadow of the Mont Blanc
You won't find much bathing water there, but hiking trails and other activities all the more. The Chamonix Mont Blanc valley is a great destination for the active camper.
You can enjoy hiking, climbing, paragliding, mountain biking, rafting and much more in the surrounding mountain area. Add to that skiing in the winter. The Mont Blanc massif, with the Aguille du Midi (accessible by cable car), offers a spectacular backdrop. You can walk with a view of the glacier, the Mer de Glace. But you can also go for a nice walk around Les Houches , a town nearby. Or drive to the Col des Montets and walk towards the Aiguillette des Posettes, with views over France and Switzerland.

Chamonix itself is also a cozy town where you can sit on a terrace, enjoying the view of the impressive Aiguille du Midi, a summit of over 3,800 meters. You can enjoy shopping and there are good, cozy restaurants.
There are more than enough beautiful campsites in the Chamonix valley, but a little further away you will find beautiful places such as Camping Les Montets in Vallorcine.
