Campsites around Lake Annecy
Many people have at some point spent some time camping around Lake Annecy (or Lac d'Annecy, as it's called in French). Little wonder, because it is an excellent camping area next to a beautiful lake, surrounded by charming hills and mountains, offering some excellent camping spots.

Situated perfectly by the lake, it offers a beautiful old towncenter with narrow winding alleys, lots of terraces, a welcoming weekly market and a magnificant, well maintained park. It's also a good starting point for of the popular boat tours around the lake.
If you don't mind an hour's drive or so, then Chamonix is within reach as well, where you can have a view of the white peaks in the stunning Mont Blanc mountain range. From Chamonix, you can do some splendid hiking, simply enjoy a sunny terrace in the welcoming city center or, if you're looking for some adventure, go paragliding in the surrounding mountains.


Campsites around Lake Annecy
Directly at the lake shore you will find Camping Au Coeur Du Lac (90 pitches) and Camping Le Lac Bleu (150 pitches)Along or near the shores of the lake, you have a choice of more than twenty campsites. Most campsites are on the west and south side of the lake, around Saint Jorioz and Bout-du-Lac. You can choose for either a very small and quiet campsite, or settle down in one of the larger, more luxurious campsites. Some sites have their own access to the lake, like for instance Camping Au Coeur Du Lac and Camping Le Lac Bleu.
If you wish to camp near the town for a while, you can: close to Annecy there are a couple of campsites. On the southside there is Camping Le Belvédère (100 pitches) and closer by, in the town itself is (25 pitches).
If you're looking for a campsite with a pool, you could check out Camping Les Fontaines (where you can even rent a tipi, should you feel like trying something different).

One more tip: if you're willing to look a bit further than the direct vicinity of Lake Annecy, then maybe you should have a look at the Lac du Bourget, situated about thirty kilometers to the west. It is not as well know as Lake Annecy, but it has beautiful surroundings as well, and you will find some nice campsites there.
