Situated perfectly by the lake, it offers a beautiful old towncenter with narrow winding alleys, lots of terraces, a welcoming weekly market and a magnificant, well maintained park. It's also a good starting point for of the popular boat tours around the lake.
If you don't mind an hour's drive or so, then Chamonix is within reach as well, where you can have a view of the white peaks in the stunning Mont Blanc mountain range. From Chamonix, you can do some splendid hiking, simply enjoy a sunny terrace in the welcoming city center or, if you're looking for some adventure, go paragliding in the surrounding mountains.
