4 small French campsites by a river
Four nice, small campsites with one of the most enjoyable things you can find at a campsite: a river. The sun above your head and a cool stream not far from your camping spot, what more could you want?
Camping Moulin De Liort, Aveyron
Camping Moulin De Liort is a small campsite with large pitches. There are not many of them: more than twenty, so really something for people who like small campsites. The surroundings and the places are richly covered and the campsite is located directly on the small river Liort, where you can cool off and the children can play well. In the area you can cycle, walk or view old towns and villages. The campsite itself can help you on your way.
Camping Le Viaduc, Ardèche
Camping Le Viaduc is located in the north of the Ardeche. It is very green, with many trees and beautiful, loosely laid out spots in the grass. The campsite is in a very quiet location, with virtually no traffic, with only one road through the valley through which you reach the campsite. A cozy little restaurant has been built at the top of the site. All good, but the asset of the campsite is the location on the river. There are several access points and there is plenty of opportunity to play. You can also rent tents, including a few yurts.
Camping Le Clupeau, Dordogne
Camping Le Clupeau is located in the Dordogne, but not on the Dordogne river. Instead you will find this green little escape on the banks of the river Auvézère. You are not far from Périgueux and close to the impressive Château de Hautefort. A good portion of the pitches are nicely situated directly along the river. The campsite is not large, but does offer you a bar and real meals.
Camping Le Montagnou
Camping Le Montagnou is a quiet place in the foothills of the Pyrenees, not too far from the town of Seix. The campsite is less than fifty places in total, but you are provided with a swimming pool, snacks, playground and of course the river. The lake is actually a river, the Alet, but it offers you the opportunity to kayak and swim. Or to freshen up your feet after hiking, because that's what you do here - at the foot of the Pyrenees -. If you wish, you can also rent a chalet or lodge tent.
